08/15/18 CHOICES – Purpose or Insignificance

Matthew 10:29-31 NIV

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.

30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

If we believe our lives are insignificant, then…

  • There’s no doubt we will be.
  • We are in disagreement with God’s plan for our life.
  • The value of life and calling is lost.
  • Failure is all we will ever know.

Psalm 139:14-18 NIV

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

When we learn what God values then we know…

  • We have purpose
  • Live like we are made in the image of God
  • Take our place in an incredible plan
  • Our design to do good things

Ephesians 2:10 NIV

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Matthew 6:25-27 NIV

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

– Fret won’t feed you.

– Anxiety doesn’t add to life.

– Fear steals from you.

– Knowing your purpose brings life.

Mark 6:30-31 NIV

30 The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.

31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
